2.2-601 - General powers of the departments established in this title.

§ 2.2-601. General powers of the departments established in this title.

Each department established in this title shall have the following generalpowers to:

1. Employ such personnel as may be required to carry out the respectivepurposes for which such department was created;

2. Make and enter into contracts and agreements necessary or incidental tothe performance of its duties and execution of its powers under this title;

3. Accept grants from the United States government and agencies andinstrumentalities thereof and any other source. To these ends, eachdepartment shall have the power to comply with the conditions and execute theagreements necessary, convenient, or desirable; and

4. Do all acts necessary or convenient to carry out the respective purposesfor which the department was created.
