§ 22.1-208.2:2. School-To-Work Transition Grants Program and Fund.
A. From such funds as may be appropriated for such purpose and from suchgifts, donations, grants, bequests, and other funds as may be received on itsbehalf, there is hereby established the School-To-Work Transition GrantsProgram, to be administered by the Board of Education, and a specialnonreverting fund within the Department of the Treasury known as theSchool-To-Work Transition Grants Fund. The Fund shall be established on thebooks of the Comptroller, and any moneys remaining in such Fund at the end ofthe biennium shall not revert to the general fund but shall remain in theFund. Interest earned on such funds shall remain in the Fund and be creditedto it.
The Department of the Treasury shall administer and manage the Fund, subjectto the authority of the Board of Education to provide for its disbursement.The Fund shall be disbursed to award grants on a competitive basis to publicschools, including regional and joint schools, school divisions, andconsortia of public schools and community colleges to support model programspromoting the effective transition from the school environment to theworkplace. Grants from the Fund may also be used to support theschool-to-work transition programs established pursuant to § 22.1-209.01.
B. The Board shall establish criteria for making grants from the Fund andprocedures for determining amounts for grants to public schools, includingregional and joint schools, and school divisions. The Board may issueguidelines governing the Program as it deems necessary and appropriate.
