§ 22.1-274.01. School Nurse Incentive Grants Program and Fund.
A. From such funds as may be appropriated for such purpose and from suchgifts, donations, grants, bequests, and other funds as may be received on itsbehalf, there is hereby established the School Nurse Incentive GrantsProgram, to be administered by the Board of Education, and a specialnonreverting fund within the state treasury known as the School NurseIncentive Grants Fund, hereinafter known as the "Fund." The Fund shall beestablished on the books of the Comptroller, and any moneys remaining in suchFund at the end of the biennium shall not revert to the general fund butshall remain in the Fund. Interest earned on such funds shall remain in theFund and be credited to it.
Subject to the authority of the Board of Education to provide for itsdisbursement, the Fund shall be disbursed to award matching grants to schoolboards to employ, or contract with local health departments for, nursingservices to achieve the ratio as provided in § 22.1-274.
B. The Board shall establish criteria for making grants from the Fund,including procedures for determining amounts of grants and the required localmatch, which shall be calculated on the basis of the composite index of localability to pay. The Board may issue guidelines governing the Program as itdeems necessary and appropriate.
