§ 22.1-18.01. Biennial review of the standards of quality required; budgetestimates.

A. To ensure the integrity of the standards of quality, the Board ofEducation shall, in even-numbered years, exercise its constitutionalauthority to determine and prescribe the standards, subject to revision onlyby the General Assembly, by reviewing the standards and either (i) proposingamendments to the standards or (ii) making a determination that no changesare necessary.

B. In any odd-numbered year following the year in which the Board proposeschanges to the standards of quality, the budget estimates that are requiredto be reported pursuant to § 2.2-1504 shall take into consideration theBoard's proposed standards of quality.
