§ 22.1-357. Purpose of the Consortium; functions; authority to apply for andreceive gifts and grants.
A. The Consortium shall serve the school divisions of Hampton Roads inproviding training to the teachers, administrators and students in thevarious Standards of Learning for English, social studies and history,science, and mathematics.
B. In the fulfillment of its purpose, the Consortium shall perform thefollowing functions:
1. Coordinate among its members and the school divisions of Hampton Roads thedevelopment of joint educational initiatives;
2. Establish and deliver, in conjunction with the school divisions of HamptonRoads, regional programs to address area education needs, particularly, toassist area schools in meeting the Board of Education Regulations forAccrediting Public Schools in Virginia and to assist area students inachieving passing scores on the Standards of Learning assessments; and
3. Provide technical assistance to the school divisions of Hampton Roads inachieving full accreditation, including administrator, teacher, and studenttraining.
C. The Consortium may apply for, accept, and expend gifts, grants, orbequests from public or private sources to enable it to carry out itsfunctions and achieve its purpose.
