22.1-86.1 - Appointment of student representatives to local school boards.
§ 22.1-86.1. Appointment of student representatives to local school boards.
A. The local school board may adopt procedures for the appointment of studentrepresentatives from among the students enrolled in the public schools in thedivision. The student representative shall serve in a nonvoting, advisorycapacity and shall be appointed under such circumstances and serve for suchterms as the board prescribes.
B. Nothing in this section shall prohibit any school board from excluding thenonvoting student representative from executive sessions or closed meetingspursuant to § 2.2-3711.
C. Student representatives shall not be construed to be members of localschool boards for any purpose, including, but not limited to, establishing aquorum or making any official decision.
