§ 22.1-134. Maintenance, etc., of school buildings and buses by countydepartment of public works.

Insofar as permitted by Article VIII, Section 5 and Article VIII, Section 7of the Constitution of Virginia, in any county operating under an optionalform of organization and government provided for in Chapter 6 (§ 15.2-600 etseq.) of Title 15.2, the board of supervisors of such county, at the requestof the county school board, may transfer the maintenance of school buildingsand grounds and operation and maintenance of school buses from the departmentof education to the department of public works; and such board ofsupervisors, at the request of the county school board, may authorize theconstruction of new school buildings and additions to existing schoolbuildings under direction of its department of public works.
