§ 23-239. Museum created; essential governmental function.

There is hereby created and constituted an educational institution of theCommonwealth of Virginia to be known as "The Science Museum of Virginia,"hereinafter in this chapter sometimes referred to as the "Museum." TheMuseum is hereby declared to be a public body and instrumentality for thedissemination of education. The exercise by the Museum of the powersconferred by this chapter shall be deemed and held to be the performance ofan essential governmental function.
