§ 23-50.5. Transfer of property, rights, duties, etc., of Medical College ofVirginia and Richmond Professional Institute.

All real estate and personal property existing and standing in the name ofthe corporate bodies designated "Medical College of Virginia" and"Richmond Professional Institute" as of July 1, 1968, shall be transferredautomatically to and, by virtue of this chapter, shall be known and taken asstanding in the name and to be under the control of the corporate bodydesignated "Virginia Commonwealth University." Such real estate andpersonal property shall be the property of the Commonwealth. All rights,duties, contracts and agreements of the Medical College of Virginia andRichmond Professional Institute as of July 1, 1968, are hereby vested in suchcorporate body designated "Virginia Commonwealth University," which shallthenceforth be responsible and liable for all the liabilities and obligationsof each of the predecessor institutions.
