§ 29.1-717.1. Transfer when certificate of title lost, etc.

Whenever the applicant for the numbering of a watercraft or a new certificateof title thereto is unable to present a certificate of title by reason of thesame being lost or unlawfully detained by one in possession or whenever suchcertificate of title is otherwise not available, the Department may receivethe application, inquire into the circumstances of the case and require thefiling of affidavits or other information. When the Department is satisfiedthat the applicant is entitled, it may number and title the watercraft andissue a new certificate of number and certificate of title.
