32.1-343 - Definitions.
§ 32.1-343. Definitions.
As used in this chapter unless the context requires a different meaning:
"Board" means the Board of Medical Assistance Services.
"Director" means the Director of the Department of Medical AssistanceServices.
"Indigent person" means a person who is a bona fide resident of the countyor city, whether gainfully employed or not and who, either by himself or bythose upon whom he is dependent, is unable to pay for requiredhospitalization or treatment. Residence shall not be established for thepurpose of obtaining the benefits of this chapter. Migrant workers and aliensliving in the United States illegally shall not be considered bona fideresidents of the county or city for purposes of the State/LocalHospitalization Program.
