§ 33.1-185. Advertising for bids.

All projects that the Commonwealth Transportation Board or the CommonwealthTransportation Commissioner may undertake for construction shall, when suchprojects are reasonably estimated to cost $300,000 or more, be let inaccordance with Chapter 43 (§ 2.2-4300 et seq.) of Title 2.2. When suchprojects are reasonably estimated to cost below $300,000, the CommonwealthTransportation Commissioner may let them to contract, and, if such projectsare let to contract, they shall be let only in accordance with Chapter 43 ofTitle 2.2.

The word "project" as used in this section shall mean construction andshall not include routine maintenance work or the installation of trafficcontrol devices, unless such work is to be performed under contract.
