§ 33.1-318. Cities and towns charging tolls for transit over streets, roads,bridges or tunnels connecting with state turnpike projects.

Whenever the Commonwealth Transportation Board constructs any project definedin Article 6 (§ 33.1-296 et seq.) of this chapter outside of the corporatelimits of any city or town which connects with any streets, roads, bridges ortunnels within the corporate limits of the city or town and charges orcollects tolls for transit over such project, such city or town may constructa project or projects defined in this article within its corporate limits andcharge or collect tolls for transit over such project or projects, and suchcity or town shall have all the power with respect thereto as is conferredupon the Commonwealth Transportation Board by this title, and wherever theword "Board" is used in this title in connection with any such project itshall be construed to include "city or town"; provided that no tolls orcompensation shall ever be imposed or collected for the use of Robert E. LeeBridge in the City of Richmond by any vehicle or pedestrian.
