§ 33.1-371.2. Tree-trimming policies.

In order to preserve roadside trees that do not adversely affect highwayoperations, maintenance, or safety, the Commonwealth Transportation Boardshall adopt policies governing the pruning and trimming of trees duringnonemergency conditions by the employees, agents, and contractors of theVirginia Department of Transportation. Such policies shall be developed inconsultation with an advisory group whose members shall include, but not belimited to, representatives of the Virginia Department of Transportation, theVirginia Department of Forestry, Scenic Virginia, and the American Society ofConsulting Arborists, and shall be consistent with generally acceptedstandards recommended by nationally recognized organizations including, butnot limited to, the American National Standards Institute.
