33.1-381 - Removal of such signs by Commissioner.

§ 33.1-381. Removal of such signs by Commissioner.

The Commonwealth Transportation Commissioner, whenever he shall ascertainthat any such sign gives incorrect information, shall notify the person whoerected the same, and the person on whose property it is located, in writing,to remove it forthwith, and if it be not removed within ten days afterreceipt of such notice, the Commissioner shall remove and destroy the same,or cause it to be removed and destroyed, without liability for damagestherefor; and, if any person convicted of erecting or maintaining any suchsign, or of permitting the same to be erected or maintained, as hereinaboveprovided, shall fail or refuse to remove the same within ten days after suchjudgment of conviction, the Commissioner shall remove and destroy such sign,or cause the same to be removed and destroyed, without liability for damagestherefor.
