44-72 - Confinement in lieu of fines.

§ 44-72. Confinement in lieu of fines.

All courts-martial of the naval militia, including deck courts, shall havethe power to sentence to confinement in lieu of fines authorized to beimposed, and shall have the power to direct that upon nonpayment of a finethe person convicted shall be confined in any county or city jail; provided,that such sentences to confinement shall not exceed one day for each dollarof fine authorized; provided, further, that when naval militia forces areembarked on any vessel, the confinement in whole or in part may be had inprisons provided thereon.
