§ 46.2-1187. Penalties.

Any person violating this article shall be guilty of a Class 3 misdemeanorfor the first offense and fined not less than $100 nor more than $1,000 foreach subsequent offense except as otherwise provided in this article. If anyofficial emissions inspection station violates this article or regulations ofthe Director made pursuant hereto, the Director, in addition to or in lieu ofsuch fine imposed by a court, may suspend the permit of the emissionsinspection station or if, in the opinion of the Director, the facts warrantsuch action, the Director may revoke the authority and cancel the permit ofsuch inspection station, whether or not the violation is a first offenseagainst this article.
