§ 46.2-696. Exemption of buses operated in special or chartered service.

The provisions of §§ 46.2-107, 46.2-687, 46.2-694, and 46.2-695 shall notapply to any carrier operating under a certificate of public convenience andnecessity issued by the State Corporation Commission or the Department forbuses operated in special or chartered party service, nor shall theprovisions of subdivisions 8 and 9 of subsection A of § 46.2-694 apply to anycarrier that is: (i) operating under a certificate of public convenience andnecessity issued by the State Corporation Commission or the Department, (ii)registered for insurance purposes with the Surface Transportation Board ofthe United States Department of Transportation, Federal HighwayAdministration, or (iii) operating under a local franchise granted by anycity or town.
