§ 46.2-718. Use of old license plates or decals after application for new.

An owner who has applied for renewal of registration of a motor vehicle,trailer, or semitrailer fifteen days prior to the day the registration periodbegins, but who has not received the license plates, decals, or registrationcard for the ensuing registration period shall be entitled to operate orpermit the operation of the vehicle on the highways on displaying on thevehicle the license plates or decals issued for the preceding registrationperiod for such time to be prescribed by the Department as it may findnecessary to issue new license plates or decals.
