§ 51.5-54. Declaration of purpose; Assistive Technology Loan Fund Authorityestablished.

A. It is hereby found and determined by the General Assembly that thereexists in the Commonwealth a need to provide assistance with loans and in thepurchase of assistive technology equipment, or other equipment, which isdesigned to enable persons with disabilities to become more independent ormore productive members of the community with an improved quality of life.

B. To achieve the objectives of subsection A, the Assistive Technology LoanFund Authority is hereby created, with such powers and duties as are setforth in this chapter, as a public body corporate and as a politicalsubdivision of the Commonwealth.
