§ 54.1-2912.2. Board may endorse certain document.

In the furtherance of its responsibility to ensure continued practitionercompetency, the Board of Medicine may endorse the Medical Society ofVirginia's Guidelines for the Use of Opioids in the Management of Chronic,Non-Cancer Pain, developed and adopted in 1997.

For the purpose of this section, "endorse" means to publicize anddistribute such guidelines as providing an appropriate standard of care;however, the Board's endorsement shall not be construed to mean that theguidelines must be followed or are regulations or are in any way intended tobe enforceable law.
