54.1-2957.13 - Exceptions.

§ 54.1-2957.13. Exceptions.

The provisions of §§ 54.1-2957.7 through 54.1-2957.12 shall not prevent orprohibit:

1. Any licensed midwife from delegating to an apprentice or personnel in hispersonal employ and supervised by him such activities or functions that arenondiscretionary and that do not require the exercise of professionaljudgment for their performance, if such activities or functions areauthorized by and performed for the licensed midwife and responsibility forsuch activities or functions is assumed by the licensed midwife; or

2. Any person from performing tasks related to the practice of midwiferyunder the direct and immediate supervision of a licensed doctor of medicineor osteopathy, a certified nurse midwife, or a licensed midwife duringcompletion of the North American Registry of Midwives' Portfolio EvaluationProcess Program within a time period specified in regulations adopted by theBoard or while enrolled in an accredited midwifery education program.
