§ 55-125.1. Certain acknowledgments taken and certified before July 1, 1995.
All certificates of acknowledgments to deeds and other writings, taken andcertified prior to July 1, 1995, by commissioners of deeds of states otherthan Virginia, appointed or commissioned by the governor of such state, andby notaries public appointed or commissioned by the Governor of Virginia, orappointed or commissioned under the laws of any state other than thisCommonwealth, or any other officer authorized under this chapter to take andcertify acknowledgments of deeds and other writings, which omit the citationof the date of the deed or certificate where it is clear from the content ofthe entire certificate and the instrument which has been acknowledged thatthe identity of the instrument or the certificate is the same, or if it canreasonably be inferred from the certificate of the person recording theinstrument or other writing that the certificate refers to the sameinstrument, shall be held and the same hereby declared valid and effective inall respects, if otherwise valid according to the law then in force, orotherwise appear valid upon their face, and all such deeds and other writingswhich have been admitted to record in any clerk's office in the Commonwealthupon such certificates shall be held to be duly and regularly recorded ifsuch recordation be otherwise valid according to the law then in force.
