§ 58.1-3164. Institution of proceedings.

Whenever the Governor has reason to believe that the treasurer of any countyor city of the Commonwealth or any other officer charged with the collectionof the public revenues has failed to execute and perform the duties requiredof such officer by the laws of the Commonwealth with reference to thecollection and disposition of, and accounting for, the revenue, he mayinstitute an ouster proceeding against such officer under §§ 24.2-230 to24.2-238. In such proceeding the Commonwealth shall be represented by theAttorney General or by special counsel selected by the Governor should theGovernor so direct.
