6.2-1306 - (Effective October 1, 2010) Unlawful use of words "credit union.".

§ 6.2-1306. (Effective October 1, 2010) Unlawful use of words "creditunion.".

A. It shall be unlawful for any person, other than (i) a credit unionorganized under the provisions of this chapter, (ii) any entity authorized byany federal law, or (iii) any association or corporation the owners, membersor constituents of which consist exclusively of authorized state and federalcredit unions or members of authorized state and federal credit unions, touse any name or title which contains the words "credit union."

B. Any person violating the provisions of this section is guilty of a Class 1misdemeanor and may be enjoined by any court having equity jurisdiction overthe unauthorized user.
