§ 8.01-525. Who are officers and employees of cities, towns and counties.

All officers, clerks and employees who hold their office by virtue ofauthority from the General Assembly or by virtue of city, town or countyauthority whether by election or appointment and who receive compensation fortheir services from the moneys of such city, town or county shall, for thepurposes of garnishment, be deemed to be, and are, officers, clerks oremployees of such city, town or county.
