Veterans medical services, division to determine if applicant formedical assistance is eligible.

208.143. 1. The family support division shall, in accordance withthe provisions of section 208.215, determine whether persons applying forand/or receiving Medicaid benefits are eligible for medical services fromthe Missouri veterans commission. If an applicant or recipient is eligiblefor such VA medical services, the division shall urge and encourage theapplicant or recipient to receive medical services as a person eligible forVA benefits. Nothing in this section shall be construed as requiring anapplicant or recipient of medical assistance benefits to exhaust any VAbenefits prior to receipt of any state medical assistance benefits.

2. The family support division shall consult with the Missouriveterans commission regarding a method of determining whether an applicantor recipient of state medical assistance benefits is eligible for VAbenefits.
