§ 14‑208.9. Change ofaddress; change of academic status or educational employment status; change ofonline identifier.
(a) If a personrequired to register changes address, the person shall report in person andprovide written notice of the new address not later than the third business dayafter the change to the sheriff of the county with whom the person had lastregistered. If the person moves to another county, the person shall also reportin person to the sheriff of the new county and provide written notice of theperson's address not later than the tenth day after the change of address. Uponreceipt of the notice, the sheriff shall immediately forward this informationto the Division. When the Division receives notice from a sheriff that a personrequired to register is moving to another county in the State, the Divisionshall inform the sheriff of the new county of the person's new residence.
(b) If a personrequired to register intends to move to another state, the person shall reportin person to the sheriff of the county of current residence at least threebusiness days before the date the person intends to leave this State toestablish residence in another state or jurisdiction. The person shall provideto the sheriff a written notification that includes all of the followinginformation: the address, municipality, county, and state of intendedresidence.
(1) If it appears to thesheriff that the record photograph of the sex offender no longer provides atrue and accurate likeness of the sex offender, then the sheriff shall take aphotograph of the offender to update the registration.
(2) The sheriff shallinform the person that the person must comply with the registrationrequirements in the new state of residence. The sheriff shall also immediately forwardthe information included in the notification to the Division, and the Divisionshall inform the appropriate state official in the state to which theregistrant moves of the person's notification and new address.
(b1) A person whoindicates his or her intent to reside in another state or jurisdiction andlater decides to remain in this State shall, within three business days afterthe date upon which the person indicated he or she would leave this State,report in person to the sheriff's office to which the person reported theintended change of residence, of his or her intent to remain in this State. Ifthe sheriff is notified by the sexual offender that he or she intends to remainin this State, the sheriff shall promptly report this information to theDivision.
(c) If a personrequired to register changes his or her academic status either by enrolling asa student or by terminating enrollment as a student, then the person shall,within three business days, report in person to the sheriff of the county withwhom the person registered and provide written notice of the person's newstatus. The written notice shall include the name and address of theinstitution of higher education at which the student is or was enrolled. Thesheriff shall immediately forward this information to the Division.
(d) If a personrequired to register changes his or her employment status either by obtainingemployment at an institution of higher education or by terminating employmentat an institution of higher education, then the person shall, within threebusiness days, report in person to the sheriff of the county with whom theperson registered and provide written notice of the person's new status notlater than the tenth day after the change to the sheriff of the county withwhom the person registered. The written notice shall include the name andaddress of the institution of higher education at which the person is or wasemployed. The sheriff shall immediately forward this information to theDivision.
(e) If a person requiredto register changes an online identifier, or obtains a new online identifier,then the person shall, within 10 days, report in person to the sheriff of thecounty with whom the person registered to provide the new or changed onlineidentifier information to the sheriff. The sheriff shall immediately forwardthis information to the Division.
