§14‑76.1.  Mutilation or defacement of records and papers in the NorthCarolina State Archives.

If any person shall willfullyor maliciously obliterate, injure, deface, or alter any record or paper in thecustody of the North Carolina State Archives as defined by G.S. 121‑2(7)and 121‑2(8), he shall be guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor.  Theprovisions of this section do not apply to employees of the Department ofCultural Resources who may destroy any accessioned records or papers that areapproved for destruction by the North Carolina Historical Commission pursuantto the authority contained in G.S. 121‑4(12).
