§14‑7.12. Sentencing of violent habitual felons.
A person who is convicted of aviolent felony and of being a violent habitual felon must, upon conviction(except where the death penalty is imposed), be sentenced to life imprisonmentwithout parole. Life imprisonment without parole means that the person willspend the remainder of the person's natural life in prison. The sentencingjudge may not suspend the sentence and may not place the person sentenced onprobation. Sentences for violent habitual felons imposed under this Articleshall run consecutively with and shall commence at the expiration of any othersentence being served by the person. (1994, Ex.
