§ 53.1-116.1:02. Jailer issued identification.

Prior to the release or discharge of any prisoner, if the prisoner does notalready possess a government-issued identification card, the sheriff, jailsuperintendent, or other jail administrator may issue that prisoner a specialidentification card to be given to the prisoner upon his release. Thesheriff, jail superintendent, or other jail administrator may establish aprocedure for securing such identification through the Department of MotorVehicles. All costs and fees associated with obtaining such specialidentification card shall be paid by the prisoner.
