§ 53.1-95.17. General purpose of an authority.

Without limiting the generality of any provisions of this article, thegeneral purpose of an authority created pursuant to this article is declaredto be that of acquiring, constructing, equipping, maintaining, and operatinga jail or jail farm and the usual facilities appertaining to suchundertakings; enlarging, renovating, and improving such facilities; acquiringthe necessary property therefor, both real and personal, with the right ofcontract for the use of or to lease, mortgage, or sell any or all of suchfacilities, including real property; and doing any and all things deemed bythe authority necessary, convenient, and desirable for and incident to theefficient and proper development and operation of such types of undertakings.
